The Pink T-Shirt.

Spring was still finding its way.

The earth was cool beneath her hands, but she knew it wouldn't stay that way for long. Soon the days would stretch a little further and the first signs of new life would begin pushing through the soil.

Today, she was planting gerberas.

Her favourite.

She had always loved their cheerful faces and vibrant colours. Somehow, they never failed to make a garden or a room feel alive.

She brushed the soil from her hands before glancing down at the bright pink T-shirt she was wearing.

Yes, it was girly. Girly in colour.

She had never apologised for loving pink.

It had drawn her in since she was a little girl and, all these years later, it still felt unmistakably like her.

The shirt was beginning to show its age. A little worn. She knew she'd have to replace it soon.

But not today.

Today, it made her skin glow, her blue eyes sparkle in the sunshine and reminded her that some colours don't simply suit us. They become part of who we are.

A butterfly drifted across the garden, hovering above the freshly turned earth before dancing away on the breeze. Even the smallest things seemed to know spring was coming.

Soon there would be sunshine that lingered into the evening, bare arms, longer days and a little more colour in her cheeks.

She had always been a warm-weather girl.

But perhaps the cooler months had their purpose too. They taught us to slow down. To restore and to prepare for what comes next.

She collected the watering can and gently watered each tiny patch of soil. There was nothing to see yet, but she knew they were there.

Waiting.

Some things simply need the right season before they bloom.

And perhaps we do too.
